In 1997 he was blown up by a shell, trying to cut it up with his friends. He spent two years in hospitals, came through nine surgeries,
spent over 45 hours under anaesthetic.
After the explosion he lost his sight for 4 months.
In 2002 he received a monthly subsidy from
the government amounted to USD 8.
